Allianz Arena welcomes visitor number 500,000

Since the Allianz Arena opened a year ago nearly half a million people have been on the Arena stadium tour. This Tuesday witnessed a milestone as visitor number 500,000, Irmi Habersetzer from Sindelsdorf, was welcomed to the stadium.
Together with her husband Hubert and their three children Tobias (6), Hanna (3) and Emma (15 months), the 34 year old defied miserable holiday weather and made the right decision. As she joined the stadium tour a fanfare sounded from the Allianz Arena shop. Mrs Habersetzer could hardly believe it: She is visitor number 500,000 on the Fröttmaning stadium tour.

Hubert Habersetzer was overjoyed: “We were really lucky. I've already been to two games at the Allianz Arena. Today, I just wanted to take a close look at this fascinating stadium.”. And the family has a little surprise for the Allianz Arena staff too as a particular date links them to the Munich football stadium: Emma, the family's youngest daughter, was born on 31.05.2005, the very day the Allianz Arena opened its doors.

Klaus Welter, managing director of Arena One, responsible for visitor management in the Allianz Arena, congratulated the winner of the Allianz Arena prize package: “We are very proud that we have had half a million visitors since we opened nearly twelve months ago.” Alexander Pieper, a management representative from the München Stadion GmbH, was happy to sum up the current position.“In a very short space of time, the Allianz Arena has developed into one of Bavaria's main tourist attractions.”

According to the market research project 'IFM Fußball-Kompass 2006/2007', the Allianz Arena is by far the most well-known football stadium. When asked to name a football ground , 44 per cent of Germans spontaneously chose the Allianz Arena. The Allianz company is thereby the most successful sponsor of a German football ground. “We are happy that so many people are enthused by the special atmosphere at the Allianz Arena”, added Kirsten Becker, Allianz's press officer. Over three million fans have attended football matches at the Allianz Arena since it was opened.

After the ceremony, the family joined an exclusive tour which saw the lucky five walk onto the Allianz Arena pitch and the children displayed exemplary behaviour in face of a thunderstorm (see picture gallery). After seeing the various stands, the tour also took in the players changing rooms, the warm-up room, the players tunnel as well as the Arena's 'Press and Business Club'. All in all, a very special day out!
