Happy Birthday, FC Bayern Munich - Special illumination from 18:00 CET.
This Saturday marks a special day for the German record champions. On the day of the Bundesliga home game against 1. FC Köln (15:30 CET), FC Bayern will celebrate its 121st anniversary. Of course, the Allianz Arena will be decked out for the occasion and, from 18:00 to 21:00 CET, will be ablaze in red, with the number '121' at its heart.
A world record in 121 years
The club with the largest global membership came into being on 27 February 1900 in Café Gisela in Munich's Schwabing district. There followed 121 years of eventful history and the rise to what is currently the most successful football club on the planet. With their triumph in the Club World Cup at the beginning of February, the Munich club secured their sixth trophy within a year, equalling the world record set by Barcelona in 2009.
