UEFA Euro 2024 will kick off across 10 German cities, including Munich and the Allianz Arena in less than three years. On Tuesday evening, the slogan of the next European Championship – “United by football. United in the heart of Europe” – as well as the logos of the 10 host cities were revealed.
The basic colours of the tournament logo are borrowed from the national flags of the 55 UEFA member associations in various combinations. The colourful logo is surrounded by 24 colours fields, which stand for the number of participants in the final tournament. In addition, each of the 10 host cities – Munich, Berlin, Dortmund, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, Cologne, Leipzig and Stuttgart – were able to determine a characteristic landmark that is an integral part of the respective city logo. For example, Munich has selected the Frauenkirche church.
Message of unity, togetherness and inclusion
The logo symbolises a tournament characterised by diversity, where everyone is welcome. Everyone should feel at home in football – and the logo is intended to create such a home in Germany and represent the diversity of fans and football in Europe. The slogan “United by football. United in the heart of Europe” reinforces the message of unity, togetherness and inclusion.
UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin said: “It’s great that the UEFA Euro 2024 logo has come to life here in Berlin’s world-famous Olympiastadion. From now on, the tournament will have a brand identity that reflects the shared objective of UEFA, the DFB and the host cities, which is a Euros tournament for everyone. We will be united in the heart of Europe over four weeks.”
Tournament director Philipp Lahm said: “Euro 2024 will be a tournament for everyone and we are looking forward to welcoming fans from all over Europe and the world to Germany in the summer of 2024. We will have a fantastic football party together. The logo and the brand identity of the tournament illustrate this message perfectly.”
