To mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the Allianz Arena will be lit up in orange on the evening of 25 November. With this, FC Bayern is once again supporting the "Zonta Says NO" initiative from Zonta, an international organisation of professional woman who take action against discrimination and violence towards women and girls.
Herbert Hainer, president of FC Bayern: "Gender-based violence is a taboo subject - and not just physical violence. Hate speech and sexual harassment on the internet are also absolute no-goes, and together we are showing them the red card. The International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women is an annual reminder to people all over the world - and FC Bayern would also like to draw attention to this issue once again."
The increase in incidents of digital violence is also worrying. Hate speech, sexual harassment and misogyny are now commonplace online. On X (formerly Twitter) alone, a woman is insulted, harassed and threatened every 30 seconds. 70 percent of all young women and girls have experienced digital violence.
The global network Zonta International has been committed to fundamentally improving the position of women for over 100 years. Zonta has over 25,000 members in 63 countries worldwide. With the international campaign "Zonta Says NO", the organisation has been promoting the United Nations' "16 Days of Activism" since 2013 under the motto "Orange The World" from 25 November to 10 December. To kick off the campaign, buildings and sights around the world will be lit up in the symbolic colour of orange, including the Allianz Arena, the Pinakothek der Moderne and the Gasteig HP8 cultural centre in Munich.
