Renovation work in and around Allianz Arena for EURO 2024

The Allianz Arena is gearing up for the next big event! This summer, the German record champions' home stadium will host six matches of UEFA EURO 2024. So as to offer the perfect conditions for this, numerous renovation works will be carried out in and around the stadium following FC Bayern's final home match of the season against VfL Wolfsburg (10-12 May). Here's an overview of what's being done.

Security and infrastructure

A festival of football like the European Championship attracts countless fans and visitors to the Bavarian capital. Naturally, spectator safety is a top priority, which is why a temporary security ring with 120 entrances will be built on the esplanade in front of the Allianz Arena. This will ensure the highest security standards and enable smooth and efficient access to the matches. In addition, a large number of volunteers will once again be on hand to help and advise fans during the tournament.

Media allowances and state-of-the-art technology

As probably the biggest sporting event of the year on the continent, EURO 2024 is attracting worldwide media interest. For this reason, the facilities for the many international journalists will be expanded during the finals. The press stand will be enlarged and additional Pitch View Studios, presenter platforms and camera platforms will be set up inside the stadium. In addition, a special accreditation centre will be built not far from the Arena on the grounds of Equilaland. Inside the stadium, the fan meeting areas will be temporarily converted into offices. The TV compound around the Arena will also be expanded and equipped with the latest technology and facilities for broadcasting matches. The latest 5G mobile technology, which will be installed with blanket coverage in and around the stadium, will ensure the best possible connectivity for fans and media.

Munich Football Arena

Throughout the tournament, the European football governing body UEFA will have property rights to the stadium. As a result, FC Bayern's home ground will be renamed "Munich Football Arena" in the summer and the name on the façade will be removed. The capacity for the European Championship matches will be 66,000. UEFA has put together a clear guide to what fans need to know about the matches and what supporting programme they can expect.
